An engagement session shaped by movement
Liv and Liam came to me with a simple idea for their engagement photographs. Movement, grain, a little blur and the feeling of film.
There was something lovely about having that direction while leaving plenty of room for the session to unfold. Rather than working towards perfectly composed frames, we could lean into movement and the small, unscripted moments in between.
The result is a collection that feels cinematic and a little nostalgic. Some frames are soft, some carry motion, and others hold the quieter details of the two of them together.
Engagement sessions offer a chance to document this particular season before life moves forward again. There doesn’t need to be a complicated plan or an elaborate setting. Sometimes there can simply be time together, somewhere beautiful, with space to settle into the experience.
For Liv and Liam, that became a series of photographs with texture, movement and atmosphere woven through them.

A season worth returning to
Since this engagement session, Liv and Liam have booked another chapter with me, this time for maternity photographs.
There’s something special about being invited back as life changes. To photograph people in one season, then meet them again in another, and slowly create a collection that holds different parts of their lives over time.
I’m Jo, a Mornington Peninsula photographer based on Boon Wurrung Country. I photograph engagements, elopements, intimate weddings, maternity and families with a gentle, unhurried approach, creating imagery with a sense of atmosphere, intimacy and nostalgia.
