A surprise proposal in Flinders
Kevin and Siluni’s proposal took place in Flinders, on the Mornington Peninsula.
Surprise proposals have a particular rhythm to them. There is the planning beforehand, the waiting, and then the point where everything shifts and the moment is simply allowed to unfold.
My role is to be there quietly, photographing what happens without pulling attention away from it. Once the proposal itself has passed, there is space to slow down and spend some time together, creating a wider collection around that part of the day.
For Kevin and Siluni, the landscape of Flinders became part of the photographs too. The open coastline and natural surroundings gave the session a sense of place without needing anything overly styled or elaborate.
The finished collection holds the proposal itself alongside the quieter frames that followed, preserving this particular chapter as it happened.
